The Pink Kite returns to the SB20 Class at AAM Cowes Week

by Katie Ashworth, SB20 Class Association
11-18 August 2012

The SB20 UK Association is delighted to announce the return of the "pink kite" to Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week. Specialist marine leisure logistics provider GAC Pindar has provided the kite to the SB20 class, which will be flown by the winner of the previous day's racing.

The pink kite will not be flown on day one (Saturday 11th August) of Cowes Week, as 2011 class winner, Mark Stokes (Eau No!) is unable to compete at this year's event. From Sunday onwards (Day 2), the pink kite will mark the previous day's winner.

The pink kite was first introduced in 2004 and has always been a talking point at Cowes Week. Spectators lining The Green in Cowes can easily see who won the SB20 class racing the day before, and perhaps more importantly how they are fairing in the class the following day!

"We're really pleased to be able to support the SB20 class by providing the pink kite," said Nick Crabtree, Group Director, GAC Pindar. "It's a great class to race in and we hope that the kite will add to the enjoyment of Cowes Week for everyone involved". GAC Pindar is an official partner of the SB20 class and Sportsboat World.

28, SB20's will compete at Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week. One race per day is scheduled from Saturday 11th – Saturday 18th August 2012. Top seeded entries include Jerry Hill (Sportsboat World), Sarah Allan (Gill) and Andy Oddie (Harry, powered by Underground Toys).

Good luck to all SB20 sailors, have a great week!
