Global Ocean Race leg 4 prize giving

With three days remaining to the start of Global Ocean Race (GOR) Leg 5, the GOR Race Organisation and the four Class40 teams with an entourage of friends, family and supporters attended the Leg 4 prize giving at the Charleston Yacht Club in City Marina with two of the GOR's Class40s, Cessna Citation and Financial Crisis, moored directly in front of the clubhouse.

The club's Commodore, Tony Ward, presented the prizes with an audience including the Italian and Slovak Honorary Consuls, club members, friends, family and supporters of the GOR teams and a delegation of Slovaks living in the US and visiting Charleston to support the GOR's Italian-Slovak skipper, Marco Nannini.

Following music by the Charleston Virtuosi – a Slovakian cello and violin duo based in the USA, Peter Kiral and Lujza Durisova - GOR Race Director, Josh Hall, and Commodore Tony Ward distributed the awards. For the Leg 4 prizes for the 6,700-mile course from Punta del Este, Uruguay, to Charleston (see the complete Leg 4 ranking below), the four teams were awarded unique, stainless steel, engraved sails by local artist, Fred Moore.
