2014 Optimist World Championship at Club Náutico San Isidro - Day 5

by Pilar Garcia Hernandez 30 Oct 2014 11:12 GMT 20-31 October 2014

There were no races today for the Optimist World Championship 2014 which is about to finish. Last night a big storm kept going during the day. Strong winds and heavy rain forced the Race Committee to postpone all the races until tomorrow. The schedule has been changed; tomorrow races will start at 11.30am and the intention is to hold 3 races.

Last night the storm came and covered Buenos Aires. The tide rose to 3.4 metres and flooded the boatyard. This forced the night guards to put the boats on the parking lot of the club.

The Opti sailors arrived at the club, took the water out from their boats and went to the principal building of the club where the OptiWorlds 2014 Organisation made a big cinema for everybody. The children waited for the racing to start while the Race Committee went out on the water to evaluate the racing area and waited for three hours until they decided to postpone all races to tomorrow.

By 7pm you could see a ray of sunlight on the skyline. We have a phrase in Argentina that says, "If the sunset is red, good times you await you".

We hope the day is as good as the official weather forecast Meteoclim is showing us, you can check it at www.meteoclim.eu.
