Next year, the Ancasta Race Boat Team are delivering a new format of Grand Prix Racing in the UK by launching a performance one design circuit. The annual series of SIX events are purposely set for fun, fast competitive racing, utilising the strict MC38 class rules.
Sam Pearson, the MC38 Grand Prix Class Director told us...
"The MC38 Grand Prix Circuit came about simply by listening to owners demands. Tight racing is clearly at the forefront of everyone's mind when they hit the race course and this coupled with people's desires to now go faster and faster, led us to select the MC38 as the weapon of choice. Building on the success of the 38 in Australia, the circuit is to be run with a close eye on costs, whilst ensuring QUALITY racing is provided and event profiles raised."
The first boat arrived in the UK early last week, and was commissioned to run test sails with interested parties. Over a dozen appointments have now been made demonstrating the enthusiasm with which the 38 is being received.
Nick Bonner (professional sailor) who helped with early sea trials commented...
"It's awesome to sail a boat where everything just works. You've got TP52 technology in there and great performance for less than the price of a J-111, the One Design circuit just makes sense."
